The purpose of the study is to determine the notion of politeness. It is based on the assumption that politeness is a pragmatic value, which is realized in the interaction between the form and the content of an utterance and the circumstances in which this takes place. The study deals with the relationship between politeness and social aims, and sets out to determine the link between politeness and the form of a demand. The assumptions put forward are also verified with tests and the establishing of the differences that occur in the various conceptions of politeness.

English summary

The present research is based on the basic pragmatic notions of variability, the possibility of choice, contextuality, intentionality and acceptability. These notions are taken into account in the research of the effects of politeness of the means of expression at your disposal when uttering a request. It is empirically verified that politeness has a pragmatic value, which comes about in the interaction between the form of the utterance, the content and the rank of imposition, as well as the context of utterance. The interactional value of the pragmatic notions and their contextual sensitivity is thus confirmed.
